Point of Rocks - Catoctin 5/10K Run -- 9:OO AM
The start for the 4th running of Point of Rocks - Catoctin 5K/10K Run on the C&O Canal National Historical Park’s towpath will be at 9:00 am Saturday, September 24, 2011– just a few hundred feet from the festival grounds. The entire run will be on the towpath, free of any traffic, and will be passing 2 railroad tunnels, 2 canal locks, 2 canal lock houses, and one newly renovated 1830s stone aqueduct over the Catoctin Creek. The race is open to women and men, any age, and timed in age brackets by the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club. See below for more information and application.

Art at The Point is a new, outdoor juried fine arts and crafts festival on Saturday, September 24, 2011, in Point of Rocks, MD. Enjoy a day in the countryside with an entertaining arts festival located on grass parkland next to the C&O Canal National Historical Park, Old Mainline of the B&O Railroad, and Potomac River. Artists, demonstrations, Civil War historians, including Brady's Michigan Sharpshooters, will be on hand, and a variety of performing entertainers - free admission, free adjacent parking, food, baked good, & central location of US Rt 15 at the Potomac River – will make a day’s outing enjoyable and easy by both artists and visitors. Just 15 miles from historic Leesburg in Loudoun Co. Virginia, and 15 miles from the historic Frederick, Maryland and an easy hour drive from either Baltimore and Washington, DC – this is an ideal relaxed new venue for celebrating artists from the region.
